Zoopharmacognosy

"Applied Zoopharmacognosy enables self-medicative behaviour in domesticated or captive animals by offering plant extracts that would contain the same, or similar constituents to those found in an animal’s natural environment. The practice encourages and allows an animal to guide its own health, since unlike their wild counterparts, captive and domesticated animals rarely have the opportunity to forage on medical plants. The extracts offered include a variety of essential oils, absolutes, hydrosols, plant extracts, macerated oils, tubers, clays, algae, seaweeds and minerals. Once the animal has selected its remedy, it will then guide the session by inhaling it, taking it orally, or by rubbing a part of its body into it."

All animals have different needs and each session is unique. My initial visit can take 1-3 hours, so I ask you put aside a morning or afternoon. I work in all environments, whether a cold stable, kitchen floor or animal enclosure! it is best to work in a quiet, calm and trusted environment.

It is fascinating to see what your animal chooses and to watch the self-selection process.  I will guide their selection in order to support them through the process.

Animals are ideally untethered so they are free to walk away from any extracts if they wish.

Nothing is forced, Everything is choice.

During the consultation, we will work together and your input is invaluable to enhance the experience and gain understanding to carry on the healing relationship after I leave.

I will follow up my visit and am always available for you to contact me with any questions or just to talk.

I never diagnose, nor is my work a substitute for veterinary attention. I ask that you obtain consent from your veterinarian before I visit. I will assume this has already been given to you before I attend to conduct a therapy session and I will ask for their details during our consultation.
